About The Gourmet Builder
Hi,
My name is Sean Gallagher and I like to call myself The Gourmet Builder. ( not all the time!! )
I'll give you a bit of background on myself so you can make your own mind up.
I have been involved in all aspects of Construction since 1989.
I started my own Building Contractor business in 1998. Since that time there isn't one part of construction that I have not physically done or had a hand in myself. Be it digging the first sod in a foundation to fitting the final front door lock on a new house we had just completed. I have tiled everything from roofs to bathrooms. I have plastered inside and out. I have built blocks and bricks. I have plumbed bathrooms, laid underfloor heating. I have hung doors. I have hung mirrors. I have laid floors. I have laid patios. Any way I hope you are getting the jist that I have ample experience to be able to give some DIY advice on here. I would want to know what I am talking about after nearly 28 yrs in the trade.
Now I deserve to be called a Builder. What about the Gourmet bit?
Well it fits nicely into " The Gourmet Builder" for a start. And maybe I'm not the definition of Gourmet but I am passionate about good home cooked food. I come from a large family of which I am the oldest so I have been cooking since about 14 years of age. Cooking is never a chore for me , in fact its the only thing I do that doesn't give me any stress. You could say its my prozac.
I am not a chef, I have never worked in a kitchen, and I don't proclaim to be an expert in cooking. But I do try and create brilliant dishes. Some dishes I get inspiration from other cooks and adapt their recipes to what I like. And some I make up myself.
Some of my favourite cooks/chefs would be Nigel Slater, Rick Stein, Jamie Oliver,. I followed Donal Skehans blog from before he was famous. Tom Kerridge would be up near number one. Listen, anyone that cooks no bullshit good dishes that anyone can cook? That's who I like.
I'm only getting going, but on this blog I hope to keep adding recipes and diy tips. Stuff for the weekend. Little jobs you may be afraid to tackle like replacing a tile or changing a dodgy lock on a door. Ill be showing you some slow cooker recipes, some starters. some desserts. Hell we will go for gold.
I also tutor classes in Palmerstown Community School. In the Autumn we are starting again. Cooking on one night and a DIY project on the other. Who says men cant multi-task.? (on different days!! )
So please stick with me and lets see where this will lead.
Thanks
Sean
